The road to success: principles, price and obstacles
Success is not a destination station, but a difficult journey. The road to success is long, winding and filled with many obstacles. It requires daily action, persistence, and consistency in our efforts, which is not always easy to do. But this is good news because there is less competition along the way.
Only those who are ready for it will be able to walk it. And when there is a willingness, there is a desire and a way to walk the path. But how do you motivate yourself to succeed? What obstacles are encountered along the way? At what cost is it achieved? What will help not to go off the path? These are the questions we will answer in this article.
The road to success: 7 important principles
There is no way to guarantee that you will be successful. There is a guarantee that you will be armed with the necessary knowledge and skills to do so.
The first principle is to define your value system
The journey begins with this first step or foundation. By defining your value system, you will understand what you need to protect and what obstacles to fight against. By doing so, you won’t let other people or circumstances throw you off.
You can’t build a path with a weak foundation. So first you have to identify your values that characterize you as a person. But it’s not enough to be vaguely aware of your value system, you have to articulate it clearly. Otherwise you won’t be able to stick to it.
Your values define your life and the way you look at the world. For example, you will be shown that you are wrong, you are mistaken, or the path you have chosen leads nowhere. Will you be able to resist this pressure without having your own values?
Whereas with them you will be unwavering, thereby not allowing anything to lead you astray. Gradually, step by step, you will get closer to your goal. You won’t care what others say, whether they judge you or laugh at you. Just you will not care about people with a different value system, so you will not go off the track.
The second principle – establish a daily routine and follow it
Society today is infected with a bad habit of living aimlessly through the day, wasting time. For example, hanging out on social networks, gossiping, or wandering aimlessly on the Internet. But, living without a plan and a clear sequence, you will not achieve anything in life.
The daily routine helps to set yourself up for success with the right actions.
The third principle is self-education
You hear everywhere that education is important for a successful life, so you are encouraged to get a higher education? But it’s good for the ordinary life. If the goal is to live an extraordinary life, then self-education is necessary.
Self-education is the path to success and personal growth. But to start self-education, you need to convince your mind why it is so important to you. Consider a few reasons.
1. it forces you to think outside the box. When you self-educate, your brain gets out of narrow thinking, thereby expanding it. This is how you learn to solve any difficult problem.
2. Makes you smarter than others. Successful people never think they have enough knowledge, but are lifelong learners. They call themselves a “student of life. They believe that self-education is necessary for success, so they improve themselves. Keep learning new things. Bill Gates said “to be successful you have to have a state of being a perpetual student, constantly learning new things. Then you are inspired by smart things, new knowledge.”
3. Self-education helps you think big. It helps you go beyond your limitations. Fill your thinking with the best books. For example, read inspirational books on self-improvement, read autobiographies of successful people.
Spend a lot of time reading, which teaches you a lot and shapes your thinking. Warren Buffett said that reading biographies of successful people shaped and motivated him. He learned from their ups and downs. They were invaluable life lessons for him.
4. it helps to become an optimist. A pessimistic person will always see difficulties in every opportunity, but an optimistic person will see opportunities for himself in every difficulty. Self-education will make you an optimist, because you will think, “If he could do it, so can I.”
5. Brings wealth. Self-education will definitely make you rich. 85% of millionaires have made their fortune through self-education, which develops a person’s financial intelligence. There is an opinion that only with a higher education one can get rich. But the reality shows differently: 30% of billionaires have dropped out of colleges or universities, but they haven’t stopped self-education. And these billionaires have 85% of the wealth of the entire population.
6. Develops communication skills. People who have good communication skills win the hearts of others. Those who can’t communicate professionally with others like to be surrounded by ordinary people. If you want to be successful, you need to communicate with successful people.
No debt – the fourth principle
The secret of success is to live below your means by getting rid of debt, becoming independent of credit and debt. Debt in hard times is a noose around your neck, anxiety, stress, and an abnormal way to live.
Try to live as frugally as possible. Money is needed, but what happens if you spend most of your time buying a house, traveling, a car? Then there is a tiny chance of ever getting out of the vicious circle – home, work, credit – paying off loans. There is a tiny chance to live a satisfying life doing what you love.
On the road to success in life, try to purchase only the things you really need, leaving the purchase of luxuries for a future time. The right time to buy luxuries is when they become a small thing for you.
The fifth principle is failure.
When unexpected difficulties happen and our world falls apart, we automatically think of ourselves as failures. We think we will never be successful again. But failure is the path to success. Consider 4 proofs:
Failure doesn’t make you worthless. We often depend on the opinions of others and worry about what they will think of us. We want everyone to think we are successful and prosperous. We are afraid that if we fail, we will look like useless people in their eyes. But all successful people on the road to success have failed. Look at Steve Jobs or Bill Gates, did they become successful overnight?
Failure opens new doors. Failure is often perceived as the end of the world, whereas it is just a restart and the beginning of something new. Whenever something doesn’t work out, we have an opportunity to do it better. All we have to do is work hard, have patience, and trust the process.
Failure makes you stronger. Although failure knocks us down, it also makes us get up and keep fighting. It forces us to step out of our comfort zone and try things we didn’t think we would do. Steve Jobs once said: “Every time you feel like you’ve hit rock bottom, remember, if it didn’t kill you, it made you stronger.”
Failure is a time lag, not a defeat. Everything in life has timing and chance. Sometimes we fail, not because we didn’t try hard enough, but because there is time and chance for everything. What can you do in this case? Trust your time. Trust the process. The moral of all this is that we should stop judging ourselves too harshly. It’s better to focus on learning from each failure. Then the next step will bring you closer to success.
Sixth Principle. Motivation is your path to success.
We put off doing the things we want to do most in life because we’re afraid we’re not motivated enough to pull it off. We worry that the road to success will take longer than we expect. Because of this, our dreams have been relegated to a shelf and left there to gather dust.
Tips to increase motivation:
- Talk to positive, motivating people. Their influence on you – very important. First, you will become similar to their environment. Secondly, learn from their example to motivate themselves.
- Communicate in a positive way. Communication skills are the key to understanding yourself and others. Learn to smile and say positive things rather than complaining or grumbling.
- Learn to understand what motivates you. We are all individual. Some are motivated by money, others by the opportunity to help others. Find out what really motivates you.
- Learn how to set and achieve goals. Studies have shown that one of the best ways to create motivation is to learn how to set goals and achieve them.
- Use positive affirmations to motivate yourself. Positive affirmations are statements about yourself in a positive way, such as:
- “I set good goals.”
- “I achieve my goals.”
- “I want to learn and succeed.”
These affirmations help move from negative thinking to positive thinking.
The seventh principle is visualization.
Learn to visualize a certain thought in your mind, making it a reality. The key to success is to start small by drawing a scenario of your actions 30 days in advance.
Imagine a scenario with specific actions to implement what you want to do. Then repeat that scenario daily. You just need enough clarity to pull together specific planned actions. You need a clear understanding of the basic, main actions so that you can then try to convert them into reality as quickly as possible.
This may not work right away. It may take several attempts before you begin to make progress. But, the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. Do you believe? But what price will have to be paid for it?
Here are some tips for becoming successful in life.
The price of success
- Being rejected, judged and misunderstood by others. Most successful people have been judged more than once by friends, relatives, colleagues or acquaintances before becoming successful. As you take the path to success, be prepared for the misunderstanding of others. Remember: a non-ideal world easily rejects and condemns brilliant ideas.
- Disillusionment. Ambitious people are most often disappointed because their expectations are greater than the results they achieve. If you are ambitious it is worth considering.
- Depression. People get depressed when their expectations or imaginary air castles collapse. There are bound to be falls on the road to success, but if you don’t get up then depression awaits you.
- Stress is the inevitable companion of success. Stress occurs when a pattern, plan, goal or cause fails.
- Anger, pain, betrayal of friends, grief, envy of others – all this is the price of success.
The road to success will not be strewn with roses, but reaching the finish line, all the bad moments will remain only memories. But to do this, you need to know what obstacles you will have to fight. Let’s look at examples of these obstacles.
15 obstacles on the way to success
- Fear of difficulties. They are the result of poorly planned tasks, improper goal-setting, or irresponsibility. Successful people do not run from difficulties, but challenge them.
- Desire for quick results. What does the decision to take the shortest route for the sake of a quick result lead to? In most cases, it leads to disappointment and depression.
- Inability to set priorities. Failing to prioritize wastes our efforts. And wasted effort leads to a fruitless life.
- Selfishness and greed. These character traits develop a habit of manipulating others, being arrogant, or deceiving for a desired result. It is difficult to cooperate with such a person, even more difficult to assemble a team of talented people. The quote “success is the way of loners” is a misnomer. Without a team and partners it is difficult to achieve a worthwhile result.
- The inability to plan and live by the plan. Because of this, the most valuable human capital – time – is wasted. Success depends on the ability to plan their affairs and implement the planned in time. Thus increases confidence in the ultimate victory.
- Inability to learn from past mistakes. Mistakes made are a good guide to teach how to avoid them in the future. There is no person who never makes mistakes. But making the same mistakes will never make you successful.
- Fear. It is caused by imaginary scenes or contrived problems. Fear destroys our confidence in our own strength and abilities as well as our determination to make some changes. Living in fear is a perfect life of imprisonment, not a path to success.
- Failure to make full use of one’s talents and abilities. Most people die without discovering their hidden talents for the reason described in paragraph 15.
- Lack of self-discipline. Why do some people become successful and others not? Because some people can discipline themselves, while others cannot. Discipline is a tool to improve our effectiveness in whatever we do. It keeps us from making the wrong moves.
- Crisis of identity or lack of self-esteem. If a person has lost his self-respect, then he considers himself worthless. His life is painted only in gloomy colors. And the person who has self-respect believes he can do amazing things and be successful.
- Lack of knowledge. Much of our success depends on whether we continue to develop in our chosen field, to acquire new knowledge. With a lack of curiosity or mental stagnation, a person stands still rather than moving forward.
- Lack of positive thinking. Pessimistic people do not believe that diligence, work, and self-discipline rules will lead to good results. For them, the key to success is simply luck or coincidence. Therefore, they approach work indecisively, with their sleeves down.
- Lack of dreams. No dream – no goal to achieve it. Without it, people do not know where to go, what to strive for and live a gray life.
- Doubts. That they discourage, make a person obedient to the circumstances. He doubts his actions, his beliefs or his path. Doubt keeps him in his comfort zone, preventing any change.
- Self-labeling. When unsuccessful people are asked about the reasons for their failures, they all repeat these excuses like a well-learned prayer:
- I wasn’t lucky.
- I’m not cut out for success.
- I am handicapped.
- I have no abilities or talents.
- I am not educated.
- I do not have good looks.
- I do not know how to communicate with people.
- I do not have enough money.
- The situation in the country does not allow.
- No suitable opportunity.
- No rich relatives.
- I have the wrong health.
These words inherently make us fail, as they prescribe defeat in advance. They discourage change. These words show that you have chosen the wrong path.
Signs of the wrong path
- There is money, but it does not bring joy.
- Your days are scheduled by the minutes, there are new goals, but you are afraid to take on. Work does not bring satisfaction and the desire to progress.
- Come home after a day of work discouraged person with a desire to take a vacation.
- Can not get rid of the thought that other people are living better, and you are a loser.
- Your adrenaline and joy come not from your favorite activities, work, or business, but from entertainment, alcohol, empty fantasies, and violent sports. To feel good, you resort to them more and more often.
- You procrastinate to get work done, even when deadlines are looming. Feel no guilt or remorse if you make mistakes in your work or procrastinate with deadlines.
- Catch yourself being hypocritical when people inquire about your business. Cheer up in front of them, smiling, saying “everything’s fine,” but your heart is scratching.
All these signs persistently tell you that you need a new path, you need a reset.
Final Thoughts: A Memo
As you may have noticed, a lot of advice boils down to the importance of developing the right state of mind. Only those who are willing to fight with all their might for success, who tap into their inner, hidden potential, become successful.
On the way to success in life, it is necessary to be like a pit bull, that is, to cling to the intended goal with a dead grip. Overcoming pain, disappointments, doubts, difficulties. One should fight for success as if everything in life depends only on its achievement. Only then one becomes successful.
There are bound to be people who will convince you of the futility of your efforts. But it does not stop a successful person, it makes him fight even harder. For him, success is a science which must be properly understood and mastered. Victory is just a matter of time. This is what his psychology of success is all about. What do you say?

The path to success
The path to success of a person is to achieve the goal set by choosing the right path beforehand. The secret of personal success is expressed in the correctness and duration of the actions performed. To achieve the desired success should begin to work on themselves, their inner qualities. The way forward to your goal and success will be the development of your capabilities, talent, self-improvement, self-development, setting new goals. Successful people say that the way to success is manifested in the ability to step from one failure to another, without losing enthusiasm. By starting to change and improve step by step, it is possible to achieve the success that the individual has dreamed of.
So, the path to success is a system similar to a cumulative effect, in which the more effort a person puts in, the more he gets in the end result. Even a small climb leads to more growth, and if one performs actions with pleasure, the path to success will not seem so hard. Something small is quite often capable of growing into something big over time. An example of this would be a large company that has been successful in business.
Most companies start out with a small staff, with a small facility, and only over time do they expand and succeed. None of the companies begin their journey with anything grandiose. An overwhelming number of companies achieve what they set out to do by starting from scratch, making many attempts until they get what they want. The people who started the companies did not do nothing, but did everything possible to realize their plans. If something did not work, then the failures did not stop them, but made them stronger and fueled the desire to achieve their goals. Studying the experience of other companies, and developing the talent in themselves, they achieved their goals.
The path to success recommendations. Most people are not ready to develop, work on themselves and expect change all at once, in one day or month. This is not the case. Often a person is intolerant of practical actions, and the path to success depends on the determination to move to specific actions and requires a plan, which the individual will act in the near future. And for the plan to be effective, it requires the assimilation of several guidelines, without which action will be utterly futile.
Some of them state:
– Only the individual is responsible for all the actions he commits;
– To build the life that an individual dreams of, only he or she and no one else can do;
– One should not blame others for one’s own failures;
– do more and don’t be afraid to take risks;
– It is necessary to turn failures into an invaluable experience;
– Start taking action and making things happen right now, not putting dreams on hold.
The road to success begins with learning the philosophy of success, and it begins if you stop denying imminent success. Many people dream of wealth, of a beautiful life, of fulfilling their plans, but they don’t achieve it all. Why does this happen? Let’s look into it. Where do a person’s thoughts and words begin when they are about to do something, or receive an offer? The individual “tries on” an offer or a case and says, “no, that’s impossible, the offer is interesting, but it’s not for me, I don’t believe in success. The individual immediately questions or denies everything and is always looking for a reason to either not start the case or to confirm his denial. But the path to success does not tolerate denial, and it will be where denial is absent. Therefore, one must always speak and think positively. One should not look for a reason, but for a way to achieve success more quickly. The individual can do whatever he wants, he can become whatever he wants, it is just necessary to make a decision now and go to his goal. It is necessary to remember that the tragedy of life lies not in the fact that a person does not achieve his goal, but in the fact that there are no goals to achieve. Achieving success in any area is often hindered by negative thinking, which does not set the individual up for action.
Negative-minded people attribute their failures to bad luck, lack of the right connections and other external factors. With all this, most of them are educated, well-read and aware of the theory of modern psychological techniques, the knowledge of which allows you to tune in to success.
What do people lack in order to become successful, because everyone wants to be successful, but many people can’t even imagine it in their mind, because they don’t think correctly. What exactly is negative thinking and how exactly it prevents to become on a path to success?
First, negative thinking blocks access to desires and dreams, which play a major role in determining one’s purpose in life. Often people trap themselves in a cage of inhibitions and limitations. Why does this happen? Because other people – relatives or the nearest environment – begin to interfere with their way of thinking in the world of the individual, imposing their point of view. So gradually the man stops dreaming, because in his opinion it is already useless.
Secondly, a negative way of thinking is dangerous because the individual focuses his attention on the negative aspects of everything that happens to him. It is only on the basis of negative observations that he makes the same predictions for the future. For example, a person’s statement that he will never achieve success and prosperity is an example of a negative prognosis. Thus, the individual sets himself or herself up for failure and prepares himself or herself in advance for failure. Such personal “programming” people always willingly justify, even finding evidence of their “rightness. Third, there are only two colors in the life of such individuals: black and white, but there are no shades. Therefore, such people choose the path of least resistance and settle for a miserable existence in which they do not have to make any effort. And in order to get on the path to success and achieve the goal, you need to believe that it is achievable and to make at least some steps to begin with.
The road to success – tips
The hardest thing for a person to do is to change internally and work on himself or herself in a positive direction. On the way to success, an unwillingness to change radically internally becomes the main obstacle for a person. Therefore, outwardly nothing changes in a person’s life and, as a consequence, there is no progress towards the goal.
The road to success implies a rejection of the established over the years style of behavior and thinking patterns. They need to be urgently replaced by constructive and productive thoughts that will inspire the individual to action.
This requires:
– Analyze one’s thoughts, feelings, and behavior every day;
– learn from Internet resources what positive thinking and behavior is;
– to correct the habits, actions and thoughts that have settled over the years in the direction of optimism and positivity;
– to define specifically a goal, to develop a plan to achieve it and not to deviate from the plan not one step to the side.
No matter how many theories of success an individual studies, they will not work in practice without his desire to change. It is up to each individual to choose his or her own position in life: to strive for success or to go with the flow.
The path to success is often unreachable because a person does not do what he has planned to do and his intention irrevocably goes backwards with the years. And what prevents him from doing what he has set out to do? The answer is simple: the individual has a habit of putting off important things for later. It seems to a person that he still has a lot of time ahead of him, and he will return to his plans, but this does not happen. There is a simple solution to this situation – to urgently change the habits, by adopting a rule called the “72-hour rule. Its essence is the following, when a person has some idea that he wants to implement, then in the next 72 hours the individual must take the first steps to implement it. If the person has not done this in 72 hours, there is a high probability that he will never do it again. This is because a person’s enthusiasm is present at the moment an idea arises, and this is what pushes him to action and serves as self-motivation.
After a certain amount of time, the enthusiasm of the individual comes to naught, so you should not put it off long enough to launch the implementation of the idea. It is necessary to act while the idea is still “hot. It does not matter if initially it will be an insignificant step. It should be done in the allotted hours, or else the idea will remain unrealized. The first step must be followed by the next step, which will allow the idea to acquire real features.
A simple path to success is to do what has not been done before. In doing so, one’s goals must be clear and understandable, and the ways of achieving them may be different, and they may change. The difference between the goal and the means to achieve it is clear and obvious in theory, but in practice people get confused. If you ask some people why they did not achieve their goals, they will say that they lacked money or knowledge or maybe support. People believe they are stopped by a lack of resources and do not take into account that these resources are just methods and means of achievement, but they can be replaced by other methods.
If a person writes down on paper all the methods he knows how to achieve a goal, it will already be the fulfillment of the goal, and the goal requires in relation to itself the invention of new resources, new ways, the development of new strategies. If one does things one has never done before, it will be a path to success and achievement of the goal. If one simply does familiar things, it will be to work with existing methods. Often people go over and over in their minds, based on experience, existing methods and don’t do something new for themselves. They do what they are used to doing and are surprised that nothing new happens in their lives. If one limits one’s actions to what the individual thinks is reasonable and possible, then one deprives oneself of what one really wants. Therefore, it is necessary to do things that one has not dared to do before because of internal limitations.
Other people’s success is supposed to motivate and, therefore, move an individual forward, but often other people’s achievements make a person give up, because personal small successes seem unimportant and even somewhat shameful in comparison with the significant achievements of successful people. Such thoughts need to be dealt with by the individual, for they are a negative that sets one back and destroys one’s dreams. It will be better if the path to success is laid out step by step.
If great success appears to the individual as something unattainable and unbelievable, it is important to understand that the path to success consists of steps. Immediately not swinging at the highest steps and focusing on close goals, it is necessary to achieve intermediate success. So gradually a person acquires new opportunities that can easily achieve what previously only dreamed of.
So, concentrating on real, close goals and doing everything to achieve them, a person thereby passes his road to success. Great success is not only wealth, but also the balance of spheres of life and harmony with oneself, which can be achieved by any person and this way to success is not so long.
